This year PracticeStudio has received many new report features and enhancements as well as new reports. Our user base is great about giving us wonderful new suggestions to existing reports as well as ideas for new reports. And we take every single request into account in development. However, many times these get implemented but our user base as a whole doesn’t learn about them.
Today I want to mention some of the changes and also provide a list of the reports that have been updated this year (2014).
E/M Coding and the Check-In Report
E/M coding is a powerful tool in the charting environment that helps providers ensure that their documentation is up to par with their billing. As such, part of the management of the clinic should be monitored daily through the check-in process to determine if the clinic if over-billing, under-billing, or is right on target.
The easiest way to do this is with the updated Check-In Report. The Check-In Report will show all of the users that went through the check-in process within any given date range. But it also shows the billed EM code as well as the suggested EM code and the cost difference between the two.
In the above image, you can see that the EM code that was billed was lower than that which was suggested. These are the types of under-coding that can really add up over time.
Routing Slip Updates
There have been many Routing Slip updates that include some of the following.
- Preferred language
- Subscribers name, etc.
- Cell phone carrier
- First date of Diagnosis instead of most recent encounter (optional)
- Previously cancelled appointments
- CPT/Charges can now be displayed
- Visit limit
- And more…
New Reports
There are also some new reports that have been added. There are many new reports on the slate for this year, so stay tuned to the blog for more details. Here are some of the new reports.
- Clinic Transaction Report
Shows transactions within a date range by clinic by provider. - Insurance Carrier Last Activity Dates
Much like the name of the report, this report shows the last date a payment was received for any given insurance carrier. - Claim History
Through Claim Management the claim history can now be printed. - Patient Check-In No Charges Report
This is a new report that splits out from the Check-In report all of the patients that were checked in with no charges. This information can also be gathered through the Check-In report, but this breakdown is grouped slightly differently and grouped by provider.
